Dataset Specialized Weather Data Files for Evaluating Thermal Safety and Grid Reliability Applications

This dataset consists of extreme event weather files for 115 locations in the United States, covering 16 Climate Zones in 50 states. The files were developed based on metrological data during 1995-2024 period. Severe weather events were identified during 2015-2024 and processed through a percentile based method to determine representative severe weather events. The representative events were then used to create the specialized weather data files. These files enable a robust evaluation of building thermal performance, occupant comfort, and health outcomes, while supporting improved energy resource planning and grid reliability under severe weather conditions.
