The scope of the heating ventilation air conditioning input-output data inventory template may apply to a broad range of thermal systems. Thermal systems are defined as “the equipment, distribution systems, and terminals that provide, either collectively or individually, the processes of heating, ventilating, or air conditioning to a building or portion of a building.” In the future, industry may elect to create a variety of product category rules for specific thermal systems (e.g., rooftop units), but, in the meantime, this template could be used to address and collect inventory data across the end-to-end phases of many heating, ventilation, or conditioning systems with the following characteristics:
- May include heating and/or air conditioning,
- May include heat pump equipment,
- Are any level of refrigeration ton (e.g., 1.5ton or 1000ton),
- Are either package units or applied units (i.e., custom),
- Are either package units or split system.
