Description
Dr. Stegen has worked at PNNL since 2011. He is a Co-principal Investigator for PNNL’s DOE-funded Subsurface Biogeochemical Research-Science Focus Area project. He is also a principal investigator on a number of other projects focused on environmental sciences, with a particular emphasis on belowground biological and physical processes.
Prior to his current roles, he was a Linus Pauling Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellow at PNNL and a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of North Carolina. He is an internationally-recognized expert at the interface between microbial ecology and biogeochemistry, and has demonstrated leadership in building multidisciplinary research teams using an integrated computational simulation, experimentation, and observational approach.
